Heather Cassell is a freelance journalist focused on LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex) and women’s issues for more than 20 years.
She currently covers international LGBTQI news, travel, and general assignments as a regular contributor for the Bay Area Reporter, Edge Media, The Seattle Lesbian, and other publications.
She is also the publisher and editor of Girls That Roam, an online women’s travel magazine and an independent travel consultant and market specialist in LGBTQI and women’s travel.
For the past 10 years, she’s traveled the world writing about interesting places and people as a travel writer. Cassell has traveled to Austria, Australia, Belize, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Honduras, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom and throughout the United States.
Cassell’s work has also been seen in Edge Media, The Seattle Lesbian, Lesbian News, Gaycation Magazine, Go! Magazine, Lesbian.com, Lesbian News, OutAloha, OutCities Northwest, and Passport Magazine.
She has participated on panel discussions speaking about LGBTQI and women’s travel at the Community Marketing Inc., Travel and Adventure Show, Women’s Travel Fest and other industry and consumer conferences.
Cassell received her B.A. in Creative Writing and English Literature from San Francisco State University. She lives in San Francisco with her partner.
